I've recently had an automatic upgrade to Windows service pack 2 - though I'm not sure if this makes any difference? I've looked through all these forums and on various websites but can't find anything that helps.

I have tried 'buying a new code online' but when I try this option it states that my computer is running in restricted access mode and has to be validated before I can buy a new code!!!

I have tried entering my activation code (from the base of my laptop) and it comes back with the error code '0xC004F050 The software licensing service reported that the product key is invalid'. It only gives me three options - contact Dell online (which opens a Windows help screen!), enter a new activation code, or buy a new code When I logged on later that same day, my computer came up with a message saying that Vista needed validating. My flatmate went online to sort out our broadband but didn't touch any of the actual computer settings. It's worked absolutely fine until about a week ago. I've had my Dell laptop for almost two years, bought originally via Tescos Online store (UK).
